Getting started

What is Shuaa Renderer?

A GPU path tracer for Cinema 4D on NVIDIA RTX cards. It renders inside Cinema 4D in the Live Viewer while you work, and to the Picture Viewer like any Cinema 4D renderer. It is free during the Beta.

Which Cinema 4D versions does it run in?

Cinema 4D 2024 and Cinema 4D 2026, on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Each version has its own download.

Cinema 4D 2025, macOS, and AMD or Intel graphics are not supported.

What do I need?
  • An NVIDIA RTX card: RTX 20 series or newer, or an RTX professional card
  • NVIDIA driver 590 or newer
  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • 32 GB of system memory recommended
  • About 5 GB of disk space, mostly for the GPU program cache
Where do I start in Cinema 4D?

Live Viewer: Shuaa menu > Shuaa Live Viewer. Picture Viewer: in Render Settings, choose Shuaa Renderer as the renderer.

Install

How do I install it?
  • Close Cinema 4D.
  • Extract the zip of your Cinema 4D version.
  • Copy the Shuaa Renderer folder into that Cinema 4D's plugins folder, for example C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D 2026\plugins.
  • Keep only one Shuaa Renderer folder there: delete an older one first.
  • Start Cinema 4D.
My browser warns about the download. Is that normal?

Yes. Shuaa Renderer is new, so few people have downloaded it yet, and browsers warn about files they have rarely seen. Keep the file:

  • Chrome: open Downloads (Ctrl+J), click the three dots beside the file, Download suspicious file (or Keep).
  • Edge: the three dots beside the file, Keep, Show more, Keep anyway.
  • Firefox: right-click the file in the downloads list, Allow Download.

The download page shows each zip's SHA-256. In PowerShell, Get-FileHash <zip> -Algorithm SHA256 shows yours: they must be the same.

Windows blocks Shuaa after the install. What do I do?

Right-click the zip, choose Properties, tick Unblock, and press OK. Then delete the extracted folder, extract the zip again and repeat the install.

Why does the first start take a few minutes?

Shuaa prepares its GPU programs for your card once. It starts by itself when Cinema 4D starts; a render started before it finishes waits for it. It runs again, once, after an NVIDIA driver update, a graphics card change or a Shuaa update.

The Beta

Is the Beta free? Can I use it for client work?

It is free. You may use it for any work, commercial work included, as a freelancer or in a studio, entirely at your own risk: a Beta can fail at any moment. Test it on the job before relying on it, and keep backups. The Licence Agreement has the details.

When does the Beta end?

Shuaa Renderer Beta 0.9.1 may be used until 31 January 2027. From 24 January it reminds you; after 31 January it keeps rendering for 3 days, until 3 February 2027, then it stops. The end date never changes your scenes. A newer build may carry a later date; when one is published, it is on the download page.

Why do my Picture Viewer renders carry a small mark?

Picture Viewer renders made with the Beta, and images saved or sent to it from the Live Viewer, carry a small Shuaa Renderer mark in the bottom left corner. The Live Viewer's own screen has none.

Does Shuaa connect to the internet?

Only to read today's date from renderway.com, to apply the end date. It sends nothing about you or your work; like any web request, it reaches the website's log with your IP address (kept 12 months). A bug report reaches us only when you press Send Report. The Privacy Policy lists everything.

Rendering

My scene is larger than my graphics card's memory. Will it render?

Yes. The parts that do not fit move to system memory: the render is slower, never lower in quality.

Where do I see what changed in each build?

In the update log: new features, improvements, bug fixes and known issues, build by build. In Cinema 4D, the Live Viewer's Help > Check for Updates opens it.

Problems and reports

How do I report a bug?
  • In Cinema 4D, open the Shuaa Log (Shuaa menu > Shuaa Log) and click Report.
  • Fill in the form. Tick Include the scene file only if you want to send the scene.
  • Click Send Report. The Shuaa Log says when it has arrived.
  • No internet? Click Save Only and email the zip to shuaa-renderer@renderway.com.
What does a report contain?

What you write in the form and your email; your Shuaa, Cinema 4D and Windows versions, the processor, memory, graphics card and driver, and counts about the open scene; the Live Viewer's current pictures; the Shuaa log of the session (and of the previous one after a crash), which can contain file paths with your Windows user name and the names of objects, materials and textures; the scene only if you tick it. The form lists everything before it saves.
